CellML은 University of Aukland에서 개발한 AnatML, FieldML 과 같은 기술과 함께 사용하기도 하는데, 각각은 세가지 수준으로 생물학을 다룬다. 아무튼, 이 세가지를 이용하면 세포 이하의 수준에서 개체의 수준까지 생물학의 모든 측면을 다룰 수 있다.
